Sorting the OWS and Cleaning Up
Today started off with checking out the Oily water Separator as we had some sort of fault.
It was my job to get this lid off so I used the socket wrench to quickly take these bolts out.
As the chief was sorting the Oily water separator I was doing what I call filler jobs: jobs that need doing but aren’t really that necessary. I cleaned the tools we used form yesterday on the grey water tank (refer to grey water tank ep.)
Then I helped the chief out with the Oily water separator.
I’m not really that clued up on the Oily water okay I’m just going to call it OWS for short. So I’m not really that clued up on the OWS but I know some of the pipes for the oil go down here.
All I had to do was to start tightening up the valves as we had some sort of leak in the bilge.
Finished that so I guess time to clean some more tools 😂
Whenever we’re in a specific area of the area looks dirty or untidy we make an effort to clean as we go along, this is the bilge next to the one I was just working in and had some water overflow into it so I gave it a good clean over.
Oh right yeah that’s the bilge after it was cleaned.
Okay so back to the OWS: this is some kind of coolant, again I’m no expert but this is some kind of top up
And here’s some more cleaning
Okay then time for a bit of spanner work, so the job was to tighten every connection I could see. The main difficulty with this is actually getting the tools in between the pipes and getting enough leverage to tighten them up but don’t worry I got the job done.
Cleaning this load bank was awkward AF. Oh yeah another thing I don’t really know too much about. But okay so it was awkward because I could only just fit inside he hole and there as you can see where a lot of pipes in the bloody way.
